So I just had a sleep study done and it looks like I have mild sleep apnea. If that turns to be the case then my want for jaw surgery will turn into a need as it is going to be considered medically necessary. Is this correct? Even if it's just mild can I count on insurance approving my claim? I have Aetna and I live in MD if that matters.

That's Sarah for the response. Good luck!! Are you having the top and bottom done? What's your issue, I have to get top and bottom done, gummy smile with a overbite. also deficient chin. I'm hoping for a January date, the sooner the better to get it over with!!

How your insurance approves it is dependent on the severity of your sleep apnea. I just had my MMA surgery for sleep apnea 4 weeks ago. I had severe sleep apnea, and the first response from my insurance it was denied. I had to have my surgeon talk to my insurance company to get it finally approved. All I can tell you now is, it is the best thing I have done. I believe it cured my sleep apnea, but I will not know for sure until my sleep study 3 months, post-op.
