    G'day again.

Thought i would put all my questions into one post. If you could answer all or some that would be great!

1, First and most importantly. What is the sensation of the numb areas like after having surgery ? I have heard some people describing the numbness from a feeling of getting a needle at the dentist type of numb/tingling/drooling to a cobweb stuck to your face type of sensation. This question is my biggy ?? im preying i can deal with it ? Did you ? How long did it take for you to get use to it ?

2, Did anyone experience their Teeth graying or worse loosing them? I know this is a slight risk ??

3, Did your nose improve, i have a bump in mine ? Hopefully surgery might improve that :) ??

4, Saliva, i seem to produce alot now. I always thought this may have something to do with my jaws the way they are positioned. Did anyone have alot of saliva before getting their jaws corrected or is over producing saliva a even bigger problem after having the jaws shifted ? :)

5, Has anyone heard of 2 surgeons doing the surgery at once ? Apparently i will be having 2 doctors. This makes me feel ok. Just never heard of it?

6, My wisdom teeth will be coming out at the same time as surgery. Has anyone else had this done? Will it be more painful ?

7, Anyone experience any anxiety, depression or panic attacks after having it done ?

8, Anyone have to get drainage tubes put in your cheeks?

    Thanks in advance..

ive had braces for nearly 15 months and nearly ready for surgery! however to be honest, im growing very impatient as now i may have to wait to see when the the surgeon can take my op. my question is, how long did you have to wait when you were considered ready for surgery? is there anything that may help speed up the process? for example, i am only doing the surgy for aesthetic reasons but if i claim functional reasosn, then this could speed the process? help is appreciated

    Hi

I was concidered ready when my orthodontist deemed my teeth were straight enough. I spent around 16 months with my braces on before being told it was time to see the surgeon again. It does feel like a long time! i know! :) You will have to speak with your surgeon who will assess you and tell you what type of surgery is needed. And he/she will know if you have any medical problems concerning your bite. Which may speed up the process, if there are medical concerns.. The surgeon should let you know about waiting times. I guess it also depends on what your health system is like also.. Sorry I couldn't be any more help.. Just be honest with your surgeon with what you want and it should all work out for you. Good luck..

    Note. I'm 4.5 weeks post-op.

    1. For me, the numb sensations differs from one area to the others. I had uncontrollable drooling from week 1-2. I feel a lot of stiffness around my cheekbone, and cobweb sensations @ my bottom lip. The numbness around my chin is even more unique, I can feel some tingling there but I can barely feel my chin when I scratch it; however, I get irritated when some hairs are touching areas around my chin and bottom lips. But note that different people has different experience regarding this issue.

    2. u will experience ur teeth loosens for the first initial weeks. As for the color, don't worry about it, my surgeon says that some people may experience their upper teeth, the area under the nose may becomes black in color; but it can be bleached.

    3. My face seems to shift a little, it's not as symmetrical as before :( my right nose seems to shift a few mm upwards compare to the left one. But as I'm only 4.5 weeks post op, its probably due to the swelling *finger crossed. How good your facial structure after the surgery depends on how good your surgeon is, so pick a good one!

    4. I can't answer this as I'm only up to 4.5 weeks post-op

    5. Nope

    6. I had it done. As I never done surgery without not having the wisdom tooth removed, I wouldn't be able to compared... But I can tell you that my recovery seems to be similar to other people experience in this blog

    7. I had a few of those from around week 1-2, but it gets better.. trust me

    8. I did, I had that only for 1 day, the next morning they just pull it out. I was told that among other things, it also helps to reduce the swelling a lot.

    Good luck

a little correction; the drainage tube was not put in my chicks, but into the lower part of my chin. There were 2 of them. Here's my post on my surgery experience http://www.jawsurgeryblog.com/forums/topic/16-days-post-op-everything-about-it#post-1900

Did the tubes in your chin leave you with any scars ?
How long are you post op ?
Are you still numb or is it getting better day by day ?
Im worried i wont be able to deal with the numbness ? Is it tht bad ?

    Thanks again...

yes it leaves scar, but don't worry.. the scar is so small that only you will know about it. And calling it scar would probably overrate it, as it looks more like acne. That's how trivial it is. The "scar" should go away after a few weeks..

I am 4.5 weeks post op.

Still numb, but it gets better. Like everyone else, the numbness gets better everyday~

here's my experience if you want to know about it http://www.jawsurgeryblog.com/forums/topic/16-days-post-op-everything-about-it

Thanks for the info.. Makes me feel better that the numbness does get better.. I need to make the final appointment with my surgeon to make the hospital arrangements. I have been so anxious and worried about the numbness to this point.. :( Have you put up any before and after photos ? Knowing what you know now about the recovery and numbness, would you do it again ???

To add to my last post. I read in your 16 post op experience, that you wouldn't do it again.. Now being 4.5 weeks post op. Has this thought changed?? now everything is getting better ??

Yeah I did mention NO in that post. It's changed to maybe now.. as the bad memory of those experience in week 1 - week 2 is still very clear in my mind, and also I still yet to see the final result of the surgery. But do know that a lot of people in the forum says they'd do it again. I'll post some photos some time later.
