Ok. so its only been 2 weeks since my surgery, but by the one week mark mostly all of my swelling was down and i was looking pretty normal again. Now the last few days i hae woken up pretty swollen again. I havent been using ice every day since day 7 because my ice pack broke and keeps leaking on me, and since the swelling was down I didnt think I needed it. Any ways, I was wondering in anyone else got swollen more after a week plus?

    I hate swelling!!!
It has been over two months since my surgery and yesterday my left side started swelling again. I thought everything was going to be okay and I had lived through the worst of it until today. I noticed a little bit of discomfort yesterday and then I woke up this morning and I knew something was definitely wrong because it looked like I had a golf ball stuck in the left side of my cheek.
So then I went into see my doctor and he told me it was infected. He went ahead and did a quick procedure to let the puss out. He injected some numbing medicine and then inserted a drainage tube thing. It was scary and stessful though. I was awake and the injections hurt because of the swelling. I started crying and hyperventilating at first but it got a little better once the novacaine kicked in.
I'm going back tomorrow for a check up. My doctor said the cause of the infection is uncertain but its most likely an infected hematoma. I'm not sure if hematomas need to be removed or if antibiotics and the body will eventually heal it. My doctor has informed me but I still feel confused!! I'm definitely going to ask him a bunch of questions tomorrow.

This is kinda an odd place to vent about my situation but I just wanted to let you guys know that I know what your going through and I understand the frustration.

Not an odd place at all Elyse, thanks for sharing, and let us know what you find out, in case anyone else goes through a similar experience.
