Awe MAN! haha, I just got the one from Wal*mart! The closest Costco is about an hour drive. I live in the sticks-lol! I wish I bought the one at Costco now because the summer coming I'll have a lot of traveling so it would be nice to have the portable one! I could kick myself. If I didn't use it I could have returned it. Thanks though jasonc! At least now I know they make portable ones! Do you put mouthwash in your water pik?? I don't know if I should.

    Hey!
I am JoAnna-20 yrs. old, and I have a Class 3 under-bite.I'm having maxillofacial jaw surgery(the top and bottom jaw surgery-but I'll have my chin adjusted as well)and got my braces 5/21/10.
My surgery date is Valentine's Day 2012. Super excited =D

Hey, how much flemmy crap do you produce after surgery, and since they don't give the suction thing to go home with, would a baby's snot sucker work?? What kind of drinks are good for breaking the flem up, I would thing soda? cause of the seltzer?

THere is a good bit of drainage that goes down your throat. Ice cold 7up worked really well for me. And yes the baby's snot sucker (bulb syringe) works well to clear nose. Use afrin for nose too for first 5 days.

Hmm... To tell you the truth I am still in the braces phase but the baby snot sucker would work! Never would have thought of that-lol! I would but a new one though instead of using my nieces' or nephew's of course! hahaha! Also I am not sure 100% but I think you can use a nasal spray (?).

As for the flem; when I am sick with the cold or anything like that I have tea with lots of honey and a squeeze of lemon (works great for me!). My mom also makes me some Mexican herbal tea (I just can't remember what it's called!!). Make sure that it is only lukewarm! Just because your healing your not allowed to have anything hot.

Jo, if you make a trip to costco buy it then return the one at walmart, you do have 90 days at walmart

Jade, I normally produce lots of saliva I think so of course I have lots post op. You kinda have to teach yourself how swallow it unconsciously all over again. The flem also makes it more difficult to breath. So far my worst experience post op is the difficulty breathing cuz my horrible allergies. The suction thing at the hospital spoiled me. I wouldn't even bother with anything else like the baby snot sucker thing here at home, not worth the time and energy. Just spit it out or swallow it. I guess the baby sucker would help for the actual flem though because trying to get that out via water and spitting is a pain. The flem is too thick to go through the teeth for the most part, have to maneuver it around through the sides of your back molars
