For me after a week my teeth were straighter. It starts instantly, but you gotta keep them a long time to make it permanent. When you'll change your elastics, you will see how much better they look now. It's a pain but it's really worth it in the end.

You would be surprised at how quickly they move, although the changes happen pretty subtly, so it wasn't something that you will notice straight away. for me i didn't notice until i had saw someone i hadn't seen in a while and they would make a comment, or i would see an old picture, and it would just be a sudden realization where i would think 'wow my teeth have actually changed heaps' its always a really good feeling

Hey, my ortho told me the pain you get is the teeth moving, but for me I never got any pain after my braces were tightend, so I thought great my teeth aint moving, and I had a huge gap in my 2 front teeth and that never started closing untill a year after I had braces on but that was beacasue he didn't try closing the gap ( I didn't know this untill after, my ortho is really blunt and dosent talk to me :( ) and because that was the main reason for me personally for braces it made me feel abit -.- but as soon as he put elastics on to close the gap within 3 months the gap was gone and thats when I realise how straight my teeth have actually turned out,so it did take a while for me to realise but I can promise you it may not feel/look like their moving to you but they are!

It was funny when I went to get braces first the ortho was saying "now we'll have to close that gap later on in the treatment" and I didn't realise there was a gap. Getting braces was more about getting my jaw sorted I suppose so I never thought of the gaps in my teeth. I'm sure lots of things moved around but as I had this one gap to focus on, I could see it closing up in a matter of months, actually probably weeks once he put an extra loop around it (possibly a chain? I never know what the terms are!)
