I've been told by 2 surgeons that any insurance company would cover my surgery, but the book of the company insurance says that maxillofacial surgery is included when you have a deformity, and I have an open bite, so I'll try to fight to have the upper jaw covered. At least I'll try it!

Hi OpenBite, I had and openbite too, and in medical-speak its a deformity. Its weird to hear them say that, but its true. Ask your surgeon, though. They'll probably word it that way when they work up the documents for your insurance company, so you probably will be covered.

My insurance won't cover it, blah. But since it's only a Lefort + top wisdom-tooth removal to solve my issues, cost of surgery is "only" $12,250. Apparently it could be way worse. :| (nevermind the fact that I still have to get implants and stuff, of course)

I don't really understand why many of this surgeries are covered in many countries for free, and are not paid if you have an insurance which you are paying for, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I was told since the very first that I could have it for free, but i'd have to wait to have the teeth ready, and when I was ready, they'd put me on the waiting list, where the 1st person on had been waitng for 29 months (I think), hence I decided to do it through my insurance ...
