I'm numb in several places inside my mouth although it's really hard to pinpoint exactly where. I'm wearing a splint and have elastics so aside from my tongue and my front bottom teeth, I'm not exactly sure where I have feeling and where I don't. But you know the feeling you get when you burn your mouth drinking really hot coffee or tea and it's so hot you burn your taste buds right off? Well I do have the ability to taste things but the inside of my mouth has that sensation of burning my mouth on something very hot. And it's a constant tingle that has been going on for days now. It never stops. But I haven't gotten any more feeling back that I'm aware of. How long does this normally last? It's driving me nuts!

On a side, my lower lip is also constantly tingling and I have zero feeling there or in my chin 8 days post op. My chin has had a few tingles but is mostly dead. I hope I'm not one of those unlucky ones that ends up not having any feeling return to my lip and/or chin! It would be miserable. I wonder the likelihood that the entire lip or chin would be numb with no feeling. Anyone know?

I think it's a one in ten chance that you have some nerve damage. But it can be as minimal as mine (no sensation in my top gums) or a tiny spot that you only notice when you touch it.
At eight days post op, now is not the time to start worrying about a lack of sensation. if it's still as you descibe at 5-6 months then you can start to ask questions to your surgeon...but for now, they'll just tell you it takes time (as is the answer to a lot of problems for the firdt few weeks post op)
All the best with the rest of your recovery. Try not to analyse things too much at the moment and just look after yourself as best you can
