    Hello!

So my main concerns are not being able to play trumpet for who knows how long... and also the possibility of losing feeling in my lips, but something else thats been in the back of my mind is losing weight after surgery. I only weigh 63kg and i'm 183cm tal. I am a swimmer and don't want to gain any body fat. Naturally I am very lean and no matter how hard I try I can't gain any muscle mass either. Apparently I'm underweight (according to the BMI calculator), so I can't afford to lose any weight.

How much weight do you think I should expect to lose? I'll have to drink lots of protein shakes

I also wonder how long it will take for me to recover enough to start swimming again....

idk kg's but i weighed about 107lbs and im 5foot2inches so im pretty small. i went down to about 85lbs. i lost ALOT of weight. but you gain it back fast, well most of it. im back at like 103 and cant seem to get any larger (not that i want it, but its like where my body topped out at). im pretty concerned about my next surgery, if i lose that much weight again ill be 80lbs which would be prettttty bad and fairly unhealthy.

everyones recovery time is different, but id be careful swimming in public places. i know when i get a piercing they tell me do not swim in public places for 6 weeks since its an open wound, and surgery is the same. your mouth might not be open but we all accidently swallow some water.

Great points, B, and yes, Daniel, you can definitely expect to lose some weight. Obviously, everyone's body will be different, but like she said, you will gain it back very fast as soon as you're able to eat fairly normally again.

You can see exactly how much I lost, time it took, and even before and after pictures of my body here:

Brandon you say you were too skinny at 170lbs!! lol I wish I could get to 170lbs... I can barely hit 150. I have kind of given up on weights though and just swim all the time.

I hope I don't lose too much weight, but like you said everyones body is different.

Good point bat about the swimming , I'll have to ask the surgeon about that.

Yeah, but I'm almost 6'4" (193cm) too, so 170 pounds is still really skinny at that height.
