No, that is not the bar. I have that splint in my mouth too rght now. That is a cast helping to keep our bite the way dr fixed it during surgery. I am getting the spint removed in 3 more week, at the 6 week mark, an my ortho is having me come that same day to get a mold made of the back of the roof of my mouth. He said he is going to rush it in the lab and I need to come back 2 days later to get the bar put in. He said it will go across the roof of my mouth at the back and go from my back left molar to my back right molar. He said it will stay there 1-2 years to keep my jaw from trying to go back to the way it was.

I was afraid to feel the roof of my mouth too. Lol. When I did I didn't feel anything either. I asked my surgeon about this and he said he did it all from above my upper jaw. Not sure how.

I don't take pain meds anymore. Just 2 ibuprofin when I feel more pain than the dull, light pain I feel most of the time. It is usually manageble. I have a hard time sleeping at night though because it feels more achy then for some reason. I stopped taking the vicodin after the first week. Hated how I felt on it. So loopy and slept the whole time I was on it.

I would def ask about your possibilities of regression since that was a big move for your jaw. Look at my blog. The post that says ready for surgery has the pic of what my dr did for the 2 piece. I don't know the measurement for that but it doesn't look anywhere near 7mm to me so you had bigger movement.

I had a 2 piece LeFort 1 that widened my upper jaw 3-4mm, my upper jaw was shortened by 6mm to reduce my gummy smile, pushed back 3mm and tilted up in the back. My lower jaw was pushed back 3mm. Surgery was December 1, 2011
