Ive read on the internet alot of people still cannot eat/chew after the 6 weeks.

Im 33 days (4 weeksish) gone since surgey and able to eat relatively firm foods. I get no pain when eating them as longs as i cut them a decent size. Im practically eating the same why i did before surgery.

    Ive been able to eat

    Sausages(stewed)
    Ravioli
    Chips(frys)
    Meat balls
    Cheesecake

As long as im in no pain, am i ok to eat these relatively soft foods?

Has your doctor ok'd what you've been eating? If not, I wouldn't. I have numbness in my mouth, so I'm not sure if I would feel much pain if I was eating something I shouldn't. Also, everyone has different surgeries. If you had one jaw...usually the healing process is a lot faster!! If you had double jaw surgery and wearing a splint...can be up to two months! It all just depends on the type of surgery and how extensive it was. I wouldn't assume just bc you feel no pain doesn't mean it's okay. You don't know what's going on inside with your bones and if they are being overworked little by little.
I have been specifically told by my doctor not to chew a thing until he says. I've been on an all liquid diet and I'm 28 days post-op. He reviews me again on the 10th and said if I'm still doing well I can start on soft foods and "make dinner reservations".

are you chewing them or just swallowing them? I was eating similar things from week one but without chewing as I was told I wasn't allowed to chew anything until after six weeks. it took me until about 12 weeks though!
So long as you don't chew anything for the first six weeks you can eat whatever you want. You just have to mash it up with your tongue and swallow it

Says 8 replys... Maybe just a glitch.

Orthodontist says its safe to eat soft foods after 14-21 days. I was on a liquid diet for about 2/3 weeks.

He said on the 3rd week after( When i saw him ) I could take my rubber bands off to eat. The list i was given was mostly foods that if you didnt break down with light chewing, you would probably choke and die, so im not seeing how i would mash it with
    my tongue.

Its not that im chewing with pressure, im just mashing them up in a chewing motion(Like chewing with my teeth.)

I was allowed soft chewing, basically items that one doesn't really have to chew, at 4 weeks post-op. I was just cleared yesterday to anything not crunchy or chewy and I'm currently 6 weeks post-op.

Most people are told they can go on a 'no chew, soft food' diet. It's easy to eat a lot of stuff without chewing. You just have to really mash it up before you put it in your mouth!
