Hey guys, I'm wondering if my "pointy" chin will go away after I have my double jaw surgery for my class III underbite (on Aug. 18th) ?

I have before pictures in the before/after pictures section

    Hey Kelly,

I had the same surgery (class III as well) about 5 weeks ago. Has your surgeon suggested a genioplasty (chin shortening) to you? I used to have a really long, pointy chin, and the genioplasty was (strongly) recommended to me by my surgeon. The catch is that it falls under "plastic surgery" rather than oral and maxillofacial (which is covered by insurance).

I was reluctant because long chins don't run in my family, and my jaw grew kind of outward before, which I felt gave an appearance of extra length. I opted out of the genioplasty and my chin now looks normal. Hope that was helpful!

Hey lynnpei! Thank you for taking time to reply to my question. No, my surgeon didn't suggest that so I'm assuming it will all look normal after surgery and recovery :) Thank you!
