I am day 11 since surgery (class 2, upper, lower, genioplasty)and am getting my wires off today. What can I expect now? I am on a need to know basis with surgeon and orthodontist--and I don't have the patience to wait until 4pm this afternoon to understand. I can't find anything on this blog/forum either.
Will I be able to take the splint in and out?
Will I be able to brush my teeth?
Floss?
Chew at all?
ANY input would be most greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

If you've only been wired shut for 11 days, it shouldn't be as severe as mine, but you probably still won't feel very secure with your jaws just yet, so you'll need to take it easy and slow as you work back into normal functioning.
For me, I could barely open my mouth at all, but again, you may have more range of motion after being shut for less time.
Let us know how it feels for you...
I'm Brandon, the creator of JawSurgeryBlog.com. I personally had upper and lower jaw surgery on October 30, 2007. Thankfully, everything went beautifully, so I'm trying to make sure everyone else's surgery goes smoothly as well!
