    Hi there,
I just recently joined your site and found it very useful as I too have surgery coming up in a couple of weeks. This would be having the same produure you had done (moving the upper jaw forward/lower jaw moved back with plates fitted).

I was wondering how long it took you to get back into bodybuilding since the op? My surgeon told me it would take around 2 months till I could hit the weights again as I would be very anxious to get back into it, without causing damage to the jaw at the same time.
I was wondering how long it took you to get back into it plus when did you start eating protein solids again i.e. chicken, steaks, fish.

    Thanks!

    Hi Diablo,

It took me a good 2 months to even feel like working out again, but I was completely wired shut for the first 5 weeks, so depending on the severity of your surgery, your recovery could be quicker, but I wouldn't recommend anybody start back before then.

After about 6-8 weeks, I started slowly introducing some light bodyweight work, which was around the same time I was easing my way back into solid foods again.

I stuck with that for a few more weeks, then gradually progressed from there week by week.

The important thing is to take it slow and gradual, because even though I was ready for everything to get back to normal, it's much better to wait a few extra weeks and have it done with, than to rush it and be sidelined for significantly longer because of a problem caused by pushing it too hard too soon.

My opertation is next week and I must admit I am both excited and nervous about the surgery, but after reading these posts on here it is definitely going to be worth it 100%!!

I'll keep you posted on how I get on.
